As an internist and cardiologist, I offer a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services for heart, circulatory, and vascular diseases, as well as their risk factors, in my private practice at Kardiologie Oberland.
Feel free to schedule an appointment. I look forward to meeting you!
Diagnosis and Treatment
The goal of cardiological and angiological diagnostics is to obtain a comprehensive understanding of heart and vascular function, as well as any irregularities. This process includes thorough consultations and, if needed, stress tests.
Based on the findings and individual symptoms, I create a personalized treatment plan, which may involve lifestyle changes, medications, long-term monitoring of blood pressure and blood levels, and imaging like coronary CT, cardiac MRI, or myocardial scintigraphy. For advanced imaging,
I collaborate with regional partners and specialized centers in Munich.
Cardiological Diagnostics
- Stress Echocardiography
- Holter monitor or ambulatory ECG (24-hour monitoring)
- Pacemaker query and adjustment
- Cardiac ultrasound (Echocardiography)
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (24-hour blood pressure monitoring)
Angiological Diagnostics
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening
- Screening for peripheral arterial disease (Ankle-Brachial Index)
- Ultrasound of pelvic and leg vessels (Leg artery and vein duplex)
- Ultrasound of the neck vessels (Carotid duplex)
Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases
Preventing cardiovascular diseases is a key focus of my medical practice as an internist and cardiologist.
Maintaining heart health requires early detection and treatment of risk factors such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels, and other abnormalities. Through tailored examinations, I assess your personal risk profile for such conditions and develop an individualized prevention plan to address these risks effectively.
High Blood Pressure (Arterial Hypertension)..
..is the number one risk factor for many heart and vascular diseases. Blood pressure is the force that blood exerts on the walls of the arteries.
Every person needs this pressure in the vessels to ensure that every cell in the body is adequately supplied with oxygen and nutrients. Key factors that can gradually increase blood pressure include smoking, lack of physical activity, overweight due to poor diet, prolonged stress, hormonal influences, or genetic predisposition.
Only a few people feel the effects of high blood pressure, which starts at values over 140/90 mmHg. Usually, they discover it by chance during a visit to the general practitioner or specialist.
After diagnosis, the cardiologist decides whether medication with blood pressure tablets is necessary or if it is possible to positively influence blood pressure through dietary changes and more exercise.
Additionally, it must be considered whether the high blood pressure has only been present for a short time or if complications have already developed in the heart, vessels, or kidneys.
High Blood Fat / Cholesterol Levels (Hypercholesterolemia)..
..like high blood pressure, is an imperceptible change in the body. Cholesterol is an important component in the structure of our cells.
In blood test results, you often find not only total cholesterol but also the values for LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) and HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein). An "excess" of LDL, the building material, in the wrong places in the body—specifically in the blood and blood vessel walls—can have significant effects on health.
This leads to the formation of vascular calcifications, which can cause deposits (called plaques) and, after a long period, blockages in the blood vessels. In addition to poor diet, it is often genetic predisposition that leads to elevated blood fat levels.
Therefore, the cardiologist must also assess whether the patient can take steps to improve their cholesterol levels on their own or whether medication is advisable.
